Region Vila do Bispo

Due to its geographical location Vila do Bispo is the only municipality where the south and west coasts meet, which gives this region two types of coasts. In the south there are the big expansions of sandy beaches protected against the strong winds by hills, and in the west the coastline features high and inpressive cliffs. Between Lagos and Vila do Bispo tourists will find a protected area that covers most of the western Algarve. The beaches here are famous for their beauty and their natural aspects are preserved. In this region there are many villages and one of these villages is Sagres, famous for its Fortress, which is located on Sagres Point. It provides a stunning view of the sea and cape St. Vincent ( the most south-western tip of Europe).
