Region Olhão
Olhão is a city which reflects its nature in the fishermen’s quarter, the colourful atmosphere of the market, artisan crafts and typical houses, and the industrial development that took place at the turn of the century. Fishing is one of the main economic activities, which makes this one of the best places to enjoy fresh and good quality fish and seafood. As is the case with other cities in the Algarve, Olhão is surrounded by Ria Formosa, a nature park which is appealing because of its flora and fauna and where you can see a large variety of species, especially birds and plants, in their natural habitat. There are three different islands in the near vicinity of Olhão (Armona, Farol and Culatra) that you can visit by regular boat connection whilst at the same time enjoying the Ria.
